As we head into this weekend of Halloween, Saints, and Soulmates, I want to make sure our upcoming Election Day doesn’t take a back seat. I thought I’d throw a little poltergeist into the mix with:
Fried Onions

Voting is like frying onions. It’s easy but not simple. Decent onions, fresh oil, and an attentive chef make the difference between a tasty morsel and a greasy glob.
A good cook smells the onion. A nasty whiff merits a toss. Don’t mask it with heavy seasoning. No matter how you spin a bad onion, it’s still a bad onion.
Then check the kitchen for smoke. Trimming the flame might help. But if the whole kitchen’s on fire, it’s time to clear the house!
In voting, investigate claims, distinguish fact from fiction. Look beyond what candidates say about their opponents to the truth they fail to tell about themselves. Cool the rhetoric and consider – just like an onion – what is the core under all the layers.
Pray. Discern what is true. Vote with your conscience, not your biases.
As with onions, quality, temperature, and timing matter in a vote. Unlike onions, there’s no Alka-Seltzer for a bad election. You endure indigestion for years!
An honest, informed vote matters – for everyone who will live with the consequences. So, “Viva Vidalia!”.
America is depending on you, Chef!
Well said!!
